    I enjoy your speaker reviews better than any other audio channel, here's why:
    1. Your technical language is consistent.
    2. Your balance between subjective and objective is superb.
    3. You clearly know what you are speaking about.
    4. Efficient.

      "Hello and welcome to the channel. I review audio gear with a focus on subwoofers for 2ch music. Please do keep in mind my reviews are based on my personal experience, with my ears, in my room, with my associated equipment. Audio is like food, we all have slightly different taste and sometimes the mood you're in can even have an impact. Ultimately i do this for free and for fun, this is a hobby after all and it's supposed to be fun."
      I rest my case.

      If your subjectivity is crap, so is your objectivity. Conversely, if your subjectivity is gold, so is your objectivity.

    I directly compared the 11s and 19s myself. The mids and highs are top quality, both base shy. ATCs are known for their mids, and "house sound" that emphasizes mids, and smooth highs but base shy. They need a sub or two for legit full range sound, and one gets close to high end audio with that combination for mid range $. I'd say Nemo hits the key aspects of the 19s, and the 11s, and how they compare. Good work!

    My old speaker - I had these for well over two years. Fantastic monitors - very clean and honest. Good timing and they essentially present a clean canvas which just shows what your electronics are capable of.
    They are not that power hungry - yes sensitivity is low but they can be driven to ridiculous levels with not so powerful amps.
    I was using a pair of EL34 monoblocks in triode mode to drive them. These were rated at only 32W/ch and filled a 22ft*20ft room easily.

    This was great, always wondered what you'd feel about the ATC SCM 19's. I was on the fence about which way to go in a medium to large monitor, ended up with the Revival Audio Atalante 3's. Couldn't be happier. Crazy, as i think they are easier to integrate with the room and sub than a previous pair of tiny Spendor Classic 4/5's. Would love your impressions of the Atalante 3's if you ran across a chance to get a pair. I know your insight and comparos would be highly valued!

    Great review from Mr. Nemo!...Bang on the money! The ATC SCM 19 (& new ATC SCM 20 look beautiful and sound stunning). The mid-range & highs are glorious *but, if you enjoy bass* then you're going to need a small sub (or two ?)..to really get the full frequency range and dynamics in the bottom end.
    However, if looks don't matter so much, & you can't stretch to total cost of new spkrs. & a good sub (or two), then the Arendal 1528's, will win out.
    Also worth checking are some of these other spkr. manufacturer's bookshelf models, e.g., Dynaudio, PMC (transmission line) Dali, MoFi triple 8's, Alta Audio Alyssa, Kerr Acoustics K300 Mk3 (transmission line), KEF Reference - to name but a few...

    Do you think the Denafrips Ares 15th R2R DAC makes a big improvement over the Hegel H190’s built in DAC? I’m really curious about trying out a new DAC to see if I can make improvements over the current sound quality I’m already getting from the H190 that in my limited experience already sounds great.

    • @NemoPropaganda
      @NemoPropaganda  10 дней назад +1

      I'm not really a dac expert but I'm really enjoying the new LAiV uDAC, I find it to be an overall upgrade over my Ares2 and Ares 12th, I don't own an Ares 15th so I can't comment on that one specifically. The LAiV uDAC is giving me all the beautiful sound both of my ares gives me but with a little more resolution at all frequencies. If you want more dac advice check out soundnews or iiwi on youtube. Those guys review way more dacs than me and are really great at it.

    Awesome review as usual, very entertaining and informative, thanks Nemo. Could you please tell a little more about the CHoco Emei pairing? (I´m trying to get a better understanding about this amp. I´m considering the CHoco or the H190. But I already have a Dac and a Streamer that I like. I have watched both Choco Emei reviews and also the H190 review, more than once tbh. I understand you mentioned they are not that distant in terms of SQ. I was wondering what made you prefer the H190 when paired with the ATC SCM19).

    • @NemoPropaganda
      @NemoPropaganda  17 дней назад +1

      CHoco has a little more sparkle & treble energy than H190. CHoco is more showing resolution while H190 is more smooth overall. Both great, do keep in mind the H190 also has stereo preout so you can add a poweramp or subwoofers if you wish while the EMEI does not. H190 remote is also a lot nicer.

    I use a Rel T5/x sub with my ATC SCM19s. Would a second sub increase the imaging much? I put the sub on the right because that is where an orchestra puts the double basses.

    • @NemoPropaganda
      @NemoPropaganda  17 дней назад

      I do not believe there is a relationship between subwoofers and imaging, I don't know what reviewer made a comment to make people think that but it's not from anything I've ever said. Subwoofers will create a larger sense of scale though and duals certainly will do that more than a single. The T5x is a great sub and I think they sound best in pairs for sure so def get a second if its in the budget.

    • @magnusdanielsson2749
      @magnusdanielsson2749 17 дней назад

      Subs wont affect imaging. However with two subs you can equalize room modes by placing the subs in the right places.
      Another improvement is to use EQ to adjust the response in the bass (up to around 300hz).
      I know Rel have a very special idea about how the sub should be integrated in the system. But this has no grounding in actual research at all.
      For subs a mono implementation is the best with a crossover at 80 hz. One can play around with the crossover point but theres really good reason for that 80 hz crossover point (hence why Dolby and THX use 80hz).
      If not using EQ a sealed box sub will integrate easier with the sealed stand mounts like thes scm 19 (has to do with the phase response difference between sealed an bass reflex boxes). However a sealed speaker matched with a bass reflex sub is less of an issue than the reverse..

  • @RyanChoo
    @RyanChoo 18 дней назад +2

    Nemo, the key difference when you really compare the 11 to the 19 is indeed the midrange - drums & percussion especially. I was totally sold and bought the 19 because it represents them so well that the 11 sounded fake. This is an SL driver and simply undisputed for being the best of ATC. Please have another listen and you will be convinced.

    • @NemoPropaganda
      @NemoPropaganda  17 дней назад +2

      yeah I feel like I highlighted that in the video, it's even in the title. I'm not sure what more convincing you think I need.

    • @RyanChoo
      @RyanChoo 16 дней назад

      @@NemoPropagandaIndeed that it was well pointed out. Perhaps the premium to fork out for the 19s is unjustifiable for many. Yet, a few rounds of listening will definitely convince one to get the 19 in favour of the 11 with better midrange & low end performance.

    • @NemoPropaganda
      @NemoPropaganda  16 дней назад +2

      @ not everyone will want the improved resolution of the 19 though, if someone listens to more average recording quality music they may prefer the more forgiving nature of the SCM11 or if someone is using more reasonably priced amps the SCM11 may also sound better so it's not as simple as the 19 being better, yes the 19 is better overall but that doesn't mean the more 19 is the right choice for everyone.

  • @beefsflat7426
    @beefsflat7426 17 дней назад

    Thanks Nemo. Great review as always. If you like 11's and 19's you'll love the rest even more...especially actives. They all share the same house sound....you just get more of it as you move up the range....more spl, more scale, more dynamics, more bass, more engagement. I found ATC around 13 years ago when i bought some used passive scm40 mk1's. Then went active with some old scm50A's for 8 years. Just bought some used SCM150ASL's...that's 150 litres cabinets size. Huge. More. They all benefit from a high quality well integrated sub...yes even the massive 150's which roll off in the mid 20hz. The actives are not great for a reviewer or tweaker...as they have amps onboard but they are a bargain relatively and save spending tens of thousands on amps and usually sound better due to removal of passive crossover. Look forward to your atc journey through the range. Enjoy.
